We’re all excited for the long, warm days and equally warm evenings in our swimming pool now that summer has arrived with a fury.
But as you are well aware, there are a number of ways that summer pool care is different from winter pool care, not the least of which is that we typically spend a lot more time in maintenance mode.
The explanation is straightforward: warm water and conditions are ideal for algae.
During the summer, many pool owners will discover that they need to run their pool pump for an additional 8 to 12 hours every day. The secret to managing a possible algae problem is to keep the chemicals flowing and the water passing through the filter.
Regular brushing is essential to ensure that there are no sluggish spots or hiding places where algae could grow. Regular brushing is crucial since very few vacuums and pumps can reach every inch of your pool’s wall and floor.
There is often a lot of debris in the water as a result of strong winds, storms, and the abrupt increase in plant growth. Therefore, in order to prevent blockages, you will need to clear out your pool filters more frequently. Additionally, a brief weekly backwash would be beneficial.
Your pool’s chemicals have to work considerably harder due to more activity, extra bacteria from people and floaties, and good ol’ algae. In order to maintain the ideal balance during warmer weather, you will undoubtedly need to test and treat your water once a week.
Swimming pools can be your best friend and simultaneously, a big headache. If you need help with any of the above, please call one of our team who can help you with advice – or even suggest a pool maintenance contract to keep it all under control.
